Lingual Braces
What are Lingual Braces?
Lingual braces are a discreet orthodontic treatment option designed to straighten teeth while remaining virtually invisible. Unlike traditional braces that are placed on the front of the teeth, lingual braces are attached to the back surface of the teeth, making them an excellent choice for individuals who wish to improve their smile without the noticeable appearance of metal brackets and wires.
Why would Lingual Braces be needed?
Lingual braces are ideal for individuals who desire a straighter smile but prefer a more aesthetically pleasing treatment option. Whether you're a working professional, a teenager, or simply someone who wants to maintain a natural look during orthodontic treatment, lingual braces offer a perfect solution. By addressing common orthodontic issues such as crooked teeth, gaps, and misalignments, lingual braces help you achieve a beautiful smile while keeping your treatment discreet.
Who would be a candidate for Lingual Braces?
Candidates for lingual braces are those seeking orthodontic correction but want to avoid the visibility of traditional braces and do not feel they would be compliant with Invisalign. Lingual braces can treat individuals with overcrowding, underbites, overbites and crossbites. Please consult with us to determine if lingual braces are the right choice for your unique orthodontic needs.
What happens during the Lingual Braces treatment?
At our office, we use Inbrace. The orthodontist will begin by taking digital impressions of your teeth and creating a custom treatment plan that will be used to fabricate custom wires for your mouth. The bracket placement will be digitally planned and then bonded to the lingual side of your teeth using an indirect bonding tray. Each visit, the wire will be adjusted or a new custom wire will be inserted. It is essential to maintain good oral hygiene and attend regular appointments for the best results. With time, lingual braces will straighten your teeth, giving you a confident, beautiful smile.
